Mathias Zwick is an independent photographer and a member of Inland, an international cooperative of documentary photographers.

Through his photography, he explores contemporary realities through places, individuals, and the stories that connect them. Working across countries such as Iran, China, Kosovo, France, and Albania, he develops long-term documentary projects rooted in observation and human encounters.

His work has been published in French and international media, and outlets such as Libération, Le Monde, and Der Spiegel regularly commission him. His series have also been presented in festivals and exhibitions in France and internationally. A recipient of the Grande Commande Photojournalisme led by the BnF and the French Ministry of Culture, as well as support from the Cnap for contemporary documentary photography, he also undertakes residencies and public commissions documenting territorial transformations and the place of the individual.

Deeply committed to encounters, his recent projects explore the boundaries of documentary photography, drawing on cinema and installation art to reflect on reality, interconnection, and the search for human connection.
